CURATORIAL STATEMENT
I PAINT IT BLACK 1999 is the most personal solo exhibition by young artist Chayanon Jaihan, alias THE 1999, in which he gives us a glimpse into his innermost being and deals with his pain in a raw, open, unsparing and radical manner.
Chayanon is currently going through a very painful phase in his life and reveals himself to us exactly as he feels: lonely, sad and lost. Again and again, dark (self-)portraits and semi-abstract images, painted on whatever was available at the time. It is the fragility, fragmentation and incompleteness of the works that fascinate us.
The artist is dealing with the impending death of his beloved mother, who is dying of cancer. He feels powerless and can only be there, holding her hand, caring for her and feeding her. And he transforms his pain and grief into art.
This show also provides insight into the daily struggle of this talented artist, who is trying to survive, sometimes not knowing how to pay the rent, with no money for art supplies and nothing to eat. But driven by the desire to create works that arise from an inner urge and reflect his true feelings.
Chayanon shares his fate with many of his generation. His dark, very personal images speak a universal language.
There is nothing we would rather ignore than the transience of the world around us. Yet we are confronted with it from time to time. How do we deal with the awareness that something is irretrievably lost? People who disappear from our lives, whom we love more than anything else?
How can you go on when you are far away from home, cope with loss when the loneliness is too great, when there is no one there to listen or sleep next to you or even hold your hand, and your body aches from crying, when in the loneliness of distance the memories are too vague and the longing for comfort grows?
Chayanon Jaihan realises at this stage in his life that he is lost, and that is a positive thing, because only those who can admit it will find something, and he will certainly find it.

I PAINT IT BLACK1999 คือ นิทรรศการเดี่ยวของศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ ชญานนท์ ใจหาญ ที่สะท้อนถึงตัวตนของศิลปินมากที่สุด ในนาม THE 1999 — บทเปิดใจที่เปลือยความรู้สึกอย่างหมดเปลือก เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ชมได้เห็นถึงตัวตนที่ลึกที่สุดของศิลปิน ถ่ายทอดผ่านความรู้สึกของการต่อสู้กับความเจ็บปวด อย่างตรงไปตรงมาไม่ปิดบังด้วยวิธีการที่สุดโต่ง ราวกับพาเราดำดิ่งสู่ห้วงลึกของจิตวิญญาณ จนสัมผัสได้ถึงลมหายใจแห่งความจริง
ในตอนนี้ชญานนท์กำลังเผชิญบททดสอบแห่งชีวิตที่หนักหน่วงที่สุด เขาเผยให้เห็นถึงความรู้สึกที่แท้จริง—ความเดียวดาย ความเศร้า และการหลงทางซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า ผลงานของเขาปรากฏเป็นภาพเหมือนตนเองและภาพกึ่งนามธรรมอันหม่นมืด สร้างสรรค์ลงบนวัสดุที่พอจะหาได้รายล้อมตัวเขาในขณะนั้น ทว่ามันกลับสะท้อนถึงความบอบบาง ความแหว่งวิ่น และความไม่สมบูรณ์ในชิ้นงานนั้นเอง กลับกลายเป็นเสน่ห์ที่ดึงดูดสายตาและความรู้สึกของผู้ชม
เบื้องหลังภาพเหล่านี้ คือการที่ศิลปินเฝ้ามองชีวิตของมารดาผู้เป็นที่รักค่อย ๆ เลือนหายจากโลกด้วยโรคมะเร็ง เขาไม่อาจทำอะไรได้มากไปกว่าการคอยอยู่เคียงข้าง จับมือ ป้อนอาหาร และดูแลเธอทุกลมหายใจที่เหลืออยู่ ในขณะที่ความเจ็บปวดเหล่านั้นถูกกลั่นกรองและไหลรินออกมาเป็นงานศิลปะ
นิทรรศการนี้ยังเผยให้เห็นการดิ้นรนในชีวิตประจำวันของศิลปินผู้มีพรสวรรค์ ซึ่งในบางเวลาตัวเขาเองไม่รู้ด้วยซ้ำว่าจะจ่ายค่าเช่าในแต่ละเดือนได้อย่างไร ไม่มีทุนสำหรับวัสดุในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน และแม้แต่การทานอาหารในแต่ละมื้อยังเป็นเรื่องยากเย็น แต่ด้วยแรงปรารถนาที่จะสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจากแรงผลักดันที่อยู่ลึกภายในจิตใจยังคงขับเคลื่อนเขาอยู่ งานที่ซื่อสัตย์ต่อความรู้สึกของเขาก็ยังคงโหมแรงอยู่เสมอ
ชญานนท์มิได้เดินอยู่เพียงลำพังในเส้นทางนี้ เขาแบ่งปันชะตากรรมร่วมกับคนรุ่นเดียวกันอีกมากมาย ผลงานของเขา แม้จะสะท้อนถึงอารมณ์ส่วนตัว แต่ความมืดมนของงานกลับถูกบอกผ่านงานศิลปะเป็นภาษาที่ทุกคนเข้าใจได้
เราทุกคนล้วนอยากหลีกหนีจากความไม่จีรังของสิ่งรอบตัว ทว่ากลับพบเจอมันอยู่เสมอ เราจะรับมืออย่างไร เมื่อรู้ว่าบางสิ่งจะสูญสิ้นไปอย่างไม่มีวันกลับ โดยเฉพาะเมื่อสิ่งที่หายไปจากชีวิตเราตลอดการคือผู้คนที่เรารักเหนือสิ่งใด

แล้วเราจะก้าวต่อไปได้อย่างไร เมื่อต้องอยู่ห่างไกลบ้าน จะรับมืออย่างไรเมื่อความโดเดี่ยวมันหนักหนาเกินไป จะทำอย่างไรเมื่อไม่มีแม้แต่คนที่จะคอยรับฟัง คนที่นอนข้างกัน หรือแม้แต่คนที่คอยกุมมือ ร่างกายเจ็บร้าวจากน้ำตาที่หลั่งรินไม่ขาดสายในความอ้างว้างจากระยะทาง และความทรงจำที่ค่อย ๆ เลือนราง ขณะที่ความโหยหาความอบอุ่นนั้นกลับก่อตัวขึ้น
ชญานนท์ ใจหาญ เกิดความตระหนักในห้วงชีวิตนี้ได้ว่าว่าเขากำลัง “หลงทาง” ทว่าสิ่งเหล่านี้กลับเป็นเรื่องที่งดงาม เพราะมีเพียงแต่ผู้ที่ยอมรับในสิ่งนี้ได้เท่านั้น จึงจะค้นพบบางสิ่ง และเขาก็จะพบมันอย่างแน่นอน

BIOGRAPHY
CHAYANON JAIHAN (ชญานนท์ ใจหาญ) alias THE 1999 Chayanon Jaihan (Ham) alias THE 1999, born in 1999, currently lives and works in Buengkan Province, Isaan. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Naresuan University in Phitsanulok, specialising in painting. Since 2024, he has been running his own art space called THE 1999 Art Gallery, which serves as both a studio and an exhibition space and where he also offers art lessons.
ชญานนท์ ใจหาญ หรือที่รู้จักในนาม “แฮม” และใช้นามศิลปินว่า THE 1999 เกิดเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2542 ปัจจุบันอาศัยและสร้างสรรค์ผลงานอยู่ในจังหวัดบึงกาฬ ภูมิภาคอีสาน สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี สาขาจิตรกรรม จากมหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวร จังหวัดพิษณุโลก ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2567 เป็นต้นมา ชยานนท์ได้ก่อตั้งและดำเนินงาน THE 1999 Art Gallery ซึ่งเป็นทั้งพื้นที่สร้างสรรค์ผลงาน สถานที่จัดแสดงศิลปะ และรับสอนศิลปะแก่บุคคลทั่วไป
